Breaking from Sineserat
As we closed out Day One of the Eritrean Diaspora Innovators Summit, we took a moment to honor the powerful conversations, vulnerable truths, and shared wisdom that emerged. Together, we explored what diaspora leadership looks like when rooted in clarity, purpose, and self-trust.
We acknowledged the complexity of our hyphenated identities, the pressure we’ve carried, and the possibility of choosing new paths on our own terms.
This reflection space grounded us in the understanding that leadership is not just about titles or achievements, it’s about how we care for ourselves and each other in the process.
As we transitioned toward Day Two, we carried forward the momentum with softness, intention, and a deeper sense of who we are as second-generation Eritreans in the diaspora.
Day 2 Replay: Healing & Building – Wellness, Identity, and Community Collaboration
We began Day Two by centering wellness as a non-negotiable part of community leadership. Together, we explored the emotional, psychological, and cultural layers of what it means to be second-generation Eritrean in the diaspora.
We named the taboos, honored our emotional truths, and examined how setting boundaries and prioritizing our mental health are acts of resistance and restoration.
Through honest dialogue and shared strategies, we affirmed that healing ourselves is essential to how we care for each other and that joy, rest, and collective responsibility are the foundation for sustainable collaboration, activism, and connection.
